I stayed 3 nights here last week and it was an absolute blast. Very well kept and clean. The owners are beyond hospitable. Very fun meeting people from all over the world and learning a bit about them. The location could not have been better. Universal Studios was a major bucket list item for me and this is literally right down the road. And less than a 10 minute drive from all things Hollywood. Extremely thankful for the people I met and the experiences this hostel afforded me. will be back for sure.

I would not recommend this place as a place to stay. If you want a good experience in LA, stay near Santa Monica or in Hollywood - North Hollywood is a run down area.||||In terms of my stay, I was not happy at all. The accommodation is basically a house tuned into dormitories with hopes of trying to fit another bed where they can. Currently they have 30 beds squeezed into this house, with some beds just being placed next to the door while people walk in.||||People who stay here are long term residence who have made it there home, so you will be sleeping in a room with peoples positions everywhere. I was staying in a room with 4 people sleeping, and I do not know when this place was clean well last. After the first night, I woke up with bed bug bites all over my body which have still not gone (4 days later) and still itch. You are given pillows and quilts to use, which I do not know when they were washed last or replaced.||||The bathrooms are not very clean and have dirty towels on the floor. The cleaner comes in the morning and fails to remove these. It takes a very long time to get a spot to use the showers, I had to wait over 1 hour one morning.||||The owners claim that this is a couples free stay, but my mother woke up in the middle of the night to hear people having sex in the bathroom. Also the next night, the door was locked when she tried to get in, 5 minutes later it was unlocked to which a male and women walked out - it isn’t too hard to guess what was happening.||||You do not have any privacy here and the long term residence are all open to 420, so the whole area smells of weed - with an outside seating area (next to the rooms) dedicated to smoking. I am not a fan of this, and wanted to breath clean air - not available here.||||If you are looking to be a long term resident, I need of cheap accommodation and do not mind where you are staying, then this is you place to stay. But if you want an enjoyable, clean and comfortable stay - DO NOT STAY HERE!

This is the cheapest hostel we could find at that time---20 dollars a day. It was really quite a bargain. There are bunk beds in every room (two to ten people per room). Not very clean but tolerable. What I liked least was that there were no partition between men and women. Everybody could go around the hostel, passing by your bed. Thus do be careful of your personal belongings. Sometimes this would be annoying and frightful, too. The location here is quite nice--- about 15 minutes walking from the metro station(North Hollywood), which is only two to three stations from the Hollywood Road of Fame and Hollywood sign---really convenient for tourists. The thing I liked best about this hostel is that there are some delicious small restaurants beside, e.g. Taco Bells, Yum Yum Donuts, Subway... And they are all quite cheap and delicious. ||p.s. It was so nice and considerate of the owner of the house for giving us a ride when we couldn't find our way to the hostel late at night.

What is on the hostel website is not what this place is. Unprofessional, shady and not well kept. Wanted to leave the day we got there but out of necessity had to stay.

It was friendly, yes but it didn't take away the fact that it was totally not what we expected. Would rather sleep in my car. But hey, it's illegal in LA.

Also no food even though continental breakfast was said to be included and even though we booked for 1 room of 4 beds, we were put in a room of 10.
