Our party of two families spent a week at Chalet Alpenheim over the New Year. As others have said It’s a convenient location with easy ski in ski out. It’s also a quick walk to town. ||Our room was comfortable with a nice bathroom and a lovely shower which was terrific after a days skiing. ||The food was particularly good with a great cooked breakfast everyday and good 3 course meal in the evening. There were three vegetarians in our group and a real effort had been made for them with some delicious vegetarian options.||The team running the Chalet were great, they were very friendly, professional and made us feel very welcome and comfortable.||I was a little worried before our holiday after reading other reviews on trip advisor but the Chalet exceeded expectations. I thought it was good value for money and I was impressed with Ingham’s and all of their team. I recommend it.

First comment relates not to the chalet but to Inghams supply of lift passes. We bought our two passes on the transfer as did most others it appeared. “Same price as in resort” we were told but this is not true. We paid in € of course to avoid card fees and get the full MasterCard exchange rate and were charged the same number of € as in resort. What they don’t tell you (obviously deliberately) is that Inghams then apply their own exchange rate and it is charged to the card in £. This resulted in about £10 profit for Inghams on each lift pass and of course £10 extra cost for customers. Following complaint Inghams refunded their charge but this does not forgive their deceitful sharp practice. I hope other customers will be alert to this. ||||Chalet dining area pleasant and comfortable. Any socialising is around the dining table because other areas aren’t really suitable. However the strict drinks policy doesn’t facilitate the usual chalet social interaction. ||||This chalet had nothing like the usual chalet vibe I have found and enjoyed over the past 25 years or so. No wine until the first course has started so the usual social casual pre dinner drinks atmosphere doesn’t exist. During desert wine glasses are usually topped up and any remaining wine immediately taken away which tends to finish the sitting. The usual conversation and laughs about the day on the slopes generally ceased at that point. ||||No bar to get any other drinks. ||||Our room was fine if a little dark like all hotel rooms in my experience (weak bulbs). Excellent shower. Bed comfortable but the duvet too small. ||||Staff were good and friendly||||Food acceptable but clearly on a strict budget. ||||Ski in/out - yes and out is a simple few minutes down to Nasserein. But beginners need to be careful especially skiing in. It’s far from steep but you need to ski across unpisted areas which could be tricky for the inexperienced because they become very hard and bumpy. ||||Access to the town is an ok walk down. Shoe grips help because the route can be icy||||Reasonable value at £500 for the week in January. But if you want a social good time like a “normal” chalet there are many others that will be a better option

A mate and I spent the first week of the new year at Chalet Alpenheim. From pictures first seen on trip advisor we were not expecting luxury, however we were pleasantly surprised on arrival.||Easy walking distance to the centre of the town and all of St antons amenities including the ski lifts. Also being able to ski into the boot room of the chalet off of the blue 27 run was an added bonus.||I have to say a special thankyou to all of the girls (and Jonny boy) who worked at the chalet. On arrival we were greeted at the door by the lovely Laura closely followed by Thea and Martha. For the entire duration of our stay, I cannot thank them enough for how accomodating they were - Going the extra mile to make sure we were comfortable, catered and looked after.||I would highly reccommend chalet alpenheim and an added bonus if you get to meet all of the guys that looked after us during our stay!||Right on.

I’ve used Inghams for 16 ski trips in 10 years and never had any issues. In fact I’ve booked another ski holiday with them for next year already as they are super organised.||||Just returned back from a lovely ski holiday. This chalet is positioned right at the end of St Anton of the Sonnenwise area. You take a small pisted trail from the boot room and it brings you out at the Nasserein gondola, far right of the resort.||||The brochure says ski in ski out.. I found it fine as I’m a good intermediate skier. Not sure about the less confident skier though. You can get back to the Chalet by coming down the blue 31 or black 34, the black 34 is better as it’s wider and not so many people on it.||||You come off the blue 31 piste and onto a flat off piste section where you can ski right to the boot room door.||||The food, service and staff were all fine. I was in a single room, room 4, the bathroom was lovely and the shower was great.. Just what you need after a hard day skiing. The furniture above the bed could have done with a bit of a refurb, perhaps sanding diwn and re- varnishing.||||A couple of observations that I feel need to be addresed:||The toaster was really really slow and then you had to put the toast back in again when it popped up:||Please buy a new toaster. When everyone is grabbing breakfast they need something better and quicker.||||Stains in the seating area and a ripped back off one seat. I appreciate it’s not Inghams fault and this is due to the owners... I hope the owners take note of this as the place does look a bit shabby in places. I paid £1500 for one week at this chalet.||||It hasn’t put me off using Inghams but if I were to ever stay in St Anton again I may look at staying somewhere else where the furnishings are not as damaged.||||It was a clean place, great staff, food good etc.. just have a word with the owners and ask them not to be so complacent. Yes it’s a grest ski in ski out location for intermediate skiers but the shabbyness in places is really letting this chalet down.

I am just back from the Chalet Alpenheim after a one week stay. It is often difficult to write useful and relevant chalet reviews as, for chalets in particular, so much depends on staffing which will invariably change from year to year. That being said, the chalet is comfortable, well-appointed and well-staffed with a helpful, concerned and hard-working team.||The food is plentiful: to the best of my recollection the vegetable side dishes were never finished, there was simply more on offer than could be eaten and all the courses, every day, were well presented and of a high standard.||As is common these days the ski-room/boot-room has heated racks for boots and has good access from both inside and outside the chalet. ||My experience of the time it takes to get from the chalet to town is not quite in line with the estimates provided by the site info but in fairness, I don’t think that Inghams are alone in this. When travel firms put in this info I think that they must employ ex-olympic race walkers to get the timings! When I returned my skis to the Alber Freeride shop at the end of the holiday and walked back to the chalet in my ski boots it took a little less than 15 mins. That would be the time to the Galzig lift in the morning and if you wished to ski the Rendl it would take a little longer to walk to that lift. The only alternative is to get a taxi! The walk to the Spar supermarket is about 5-10 mins in walking boots down a footpath opposite the Wellness Centre.||It may be relevant that one of the guests with whom I shared the chalet is returning in two weeks and is looking forward to the next stay very much indeed. So far, so good!||The only major reservation I have with the chalet is with the description of ski-in/ski-out. It is not in the same league as the French, purpose built, high altitude resorts such as Avoriaz, Tignes or Mottaret; that would be too much to reasonably expect. Traditional resorts have not been built or developed in that way. The chalet does offer better access than most traditional resorts and it may even be one of the best for in/out skiing at St. Anton but whether or not novice skiers would be particularly comfortable skiing in and out is very much open to doubt. ||That being said, it could very easily be argued that St Anton is no place for novice skiers, particularly since the traditional rules of piste behaviour seem to have been replaced by one of ‘slow skiers must keep out of the way of fast skiers even when they can’t see them coming’! ||The ski out description is reasonable in that a 15 metre walk from the boot room door up a foot path puts you on a non-pisted, rutted, gently sloping track over what is probably summer meadow, which leads to the Nasserein cable car. So far so good!||It is also true that you can ski in right to the boot room door but only IF you are comfortable skiing simple off-piste, very rutted, hard pack that is accessed from a number of pisted runs AND most importantly, you are prepared to confine your sking to the Gampen ski area. If you are going to want, as almost every visitor to St Anton would wish to do, to explore the vast area that St Anton has to offer then the only way back to the Gampen and hence to the ski-in option is via a blue run #50 or a black run #52 off the Galzig. However, #50 has apparently been closed all season, ostensibly because of avalanche risk and #52 is steep, not particularly user friendly and very, very busy with skiers who would probably be much more comfortable on runs at least a grade and a half simpler. However, since it is currently the only connection between the Galzig and the Gampen it attracts large numbers of skiers, many of whom I think seem to regret their choice! Conditions on that run deteriorated throughout the week.||Since this situation has continued for all of the 2018 season, and apparently will continue for the rest of this year, then the Ski-In description for the chalet might well be argued to be just a little bit naughty on the part on Inghams who must know the actual conditions in the resort. If you ski or take the cable car down off the Galzig then it’s walk or taxi. ||||Finally, the return via Departures at Innsbruck. ABSOLUTE HELL ON WHEELS! If you have ever, in the past, experienced Geneva charter departures on English half term weekends then you need to try to imagine something ten times worse - hard as that may be. In my queue for check-in someone passed out in the crush and in another there was fighting! An adequate and fair description would need a separate review; suffice to say that if this is, in the future, the only option regarding St Anton skiing, or even Austrian sking as a totality I will never be going there again!
